TRAINING & PREPARATIONS

We have been taking our preparations for the walk very seriously.

BOB :  Since July 3rd, 2010 Bob followed a strict regime of running on Thursdays and Sundays from 7.30 am to 9.00 am. Then in September, 2010 he entered the Swansea Bay 10k Race and finished among the medals coming just behind the leaders – 2208th out of 2215 runners.  From March onwards there have also been two days of walking each week. On the latest excursion  Bob resolved to cover 14 miles and decided that at the moment his GPS indicated he’d done exactly 7 miles – wherever he was – he’d stop and eat his lunch. A forest glade; the pastel colours of the north Gower estuary and the beauty of the salt marshes entranced the eye. Then, as his device clicked over to 7 miles exactly, he found he was standing foursquare in front of the Lougher Sewage Pumping Station.

KEN : has been taking frequent exercise walks to the off-licence and pizza takeaway. (He is also a  member of his local gym. He often flexes the membership card to keep a measure of suppleness in his fingers.)

Ken's training really begins to pay off.
